A Benjamin Laver Silver Covered Soup Tureen, London, 1782 Marks: (lion passant), (crowned leopard's head), g, BL 11 x 18 x 8-1/2 inches (27.9 x 45.7 x 21.6 cm) 3100 grams (99.67 troy ounces) The elongated oval tureen with a beaded rim over a centered cartouche with a coat of arms to mid-body, lobed lower body, two scroll handles, raised by a pedestal oval beaded base; the cover with a floral finial over lobes and finished with continuing beads to stepped rim. Dents to conforming rim of cover; not visible when displayed. Small pin dents to edges of cover and tureen. Engraved coat of arms to tureen's cartouche.
