**D.M. Lefever Company Crossbolt SxS Hammerless 20ga. with Krupp Steel Barrels

20 gauge. 28" barrel length. 14.75" length of pull. 1.625" drop to heel. 2.875" drop to heel. About 2.75" chambers. Improved modified and modified chokes. SN: 1540. Blued metal finish, with frame that appears to have been buffed of original case hardened finish. Two piece walnut stock has checkering to Prince of Wales grip, splinter forearm, and side panels, also with scalloped grip knob and an ebony forend insert. Break action side by side hammerless boxlock shotgun with a solid matte rib and steel bead front sight. Item features double triggers, extractors, checkered wheel forearm release, and grooved pyramid safety toggle. Engravings include spiral scroll, chain link- style borderwork, and rosettes to hardware overall to frame and parts. Scalloped frame also features vignette game scenes including a spaniel to left side, pointer to right side, marshland bird to bottom, and a flying duck to triggerguard. Markings include THE/D.M. LEFEVER CO./PAT'D 1802 to bottom of frame. Barrels are marked KRUPP to top of right barrel, and FLUID STEEL to left barrel.

Good. Bores are bright, left bore has a spot of residue toward muzzle. Finish has cloudy appearance overall, with scattered light scratches, clusters of pitting (mostly to bottom of barrels), and several dents to both sides of barrels. Frame appears to have been buffed at some point and engravings are somewhat weak. Stock is in good condition, possibly refurbished as tang has some slight gapping around wood to metal fit. Break lever is right of center and has wiggle to it. Hard rubber buttplate has a large loss below bottom screw, but the missing piece is included. Action may need work. Action is functional, but crossbolt does not retract all the way when action is closed.
