**L.C. Smith for Hunter Arms Company Model 2E shotgun

12 Gauge. 30" barrel lengths. SN: 200847. 2.75" chamber lengths. Full chokes. Blued metal finish with color casehardened frame in Walnut English style straight wrist stock with splinter forend. Double barrel hammerless sideplate ejector shotgun with tang mounted safety. Each sideplate displays the maker marking L.C. SMITH followed by an engraved vignette of Quail to the left side and a swimming duck on the right. Light border and Arabesque scrollwork embellishes the frame components. Water tables are struck with the two-line patent marking PAT'D JULY 18-86/PAT'D OCT. 5-86. A further patent mark on the underside of the forend reads PAT'D JULY 28, 1901. Barrels are engraved within a banner beside the dollshead HUNTER ARMS CO FULTON. N.Y. Both barrels display the steel manufacturer marking for Crown Steel. The initials EL are carved into the toe of the stock behind the tang. Serial numbers match. Stock is without buttplate.

Good. Bores are Bright. Barrels show a small dent to the right barrel at mid length. Blued finish is weak with the barrels exhibiting a primarily brown patina overall and some oxidized spots, particularly a large oxidized area just behind the left muzzle. Frame shows some weakening of the engraving suggesting it has been cleaned, along with further oxidation on the triggerguard. Frame is a silver to gray patina overall. Buttstock displays some weakening of the checkering and light handling mars. There are small chips to the wood just behind the tang. Action locks tightly on face with the lever resting right of center.
