A PAIR OF ARMORIAL DISHES FOR THE IRISH MARKET
Circa 1735
Each dish centred with a large Armorial of the Bucknall family painted in enamels below a buck's head at the rim, with floral sprays decorating the rim, the details heightened in gilt.

According to David Howard in Chinese Armorial Porcelain Volume I, 1974, p. 410, the Bucknall or Bucknell family. It is thought that the service may have been made for Rt. Hon. Col. Charles Bucknall who lived in Ireland at the time.
