Ralph Vaughan-Williams (1872-1958), thence by decent.
Ralph Vaughan-Williams gifted this necklace to his first wife Adeline. He was one of the most important British composers of the 20th century. Drawing on the influences of English folk song and Tudor polyphony. Vaughan Williams succeeded in reviving British music and was most famous for 'The Lark Ascending' written in 1914. It was first performed after the First World War in 1921.
Ralph Vaughan married Adeline Fisher in 1897. A jewel with intricate design cased by Parkes, 12 Vigo/Regent Street. Possibly constructed around the time The Lark Ascending was composed.
