Four Books Owned by CSA Diplomat James Mason
Lot of four (4) books used by Civil War Confederate Diplomat James Murray Mason, who prior to the war served as a US Senator. Each book is either signed by Mason or a family member and bears an inscription. The books are: #1 - ""Testimony Taken by the Joint Select Committee to Inquire into The Condition of Affairs in the Late Insurrectionary States, Georgia, 1872"". Inscribed in ink ""Confederate States of America, London in England, Not in America"", and ""J. M. Mason, I got this shortly after I came to Charlestown soon after published. I came to Charlestown in Aug. 1871"". Also reference to Tilden-Hayes Electorate Commission.
