etchings with engraving on laid and wove papers
lot includes two Visentini etching/engravings from the 1742 edition of Urbis Venetiarum Prospectus Celebriores, Ex Antonii Canal Tabulis XXXVIII. Aere Expressi ab Antonio Visentini in Partes Tres Distributi. Pars Prima [-Pars Tertia], published 1742; together with two more from Giovanni Battista Brustoloni (1726-1796) Prospectum aedium viarumque insigniorum urbis Venetiarum. Begun in 1728 and completed in 1735, Visentini's set of engravings commissioned by Consul Joseph Smith after 38 paintings by Canaletto in his collection is considered the most widely known and the best of the many engravings after Canaletto's views of Venice.
