About the artist: Ukrainian painter. Honored Artist of Ukraine.
Vladimir Fedorovich Sidoruk was born on January 3, 1925 in the village of Rzhishchev near Kiev in a peasant family.
From 1939 to 1941, the future artist studied at the Taras Shevchenko Republican Art School in Kiev. His teachers were Ivan Khvorostetsky (student of F. Krichevsky) and Georgy Kiyanchenko. The influence of these masters, the high level of teaching will allow Vladimir, even without receiving a higher art education, to become an outstanding painter.
During the Great Patriotic War, he served as an artist at the Stanislavsky transit point of the regional military registration and enlistment office.
After demobilization, in September 1945, Vladimir Sidoruk remains in Stanislav (now Ivano-Frankivsk), where he is in charge of the decorative workshop and at the same time works as a director of the Stanislav Music and Drama Theater. I. Franko. Designed the performances "Stolen Happiness" by I. Franko, "Taras Bulba" by N. Gogol, "Nazar Stodolya" by T. Shevchenko. Preserved preparatory drawings for these performances, watercolor sketches.
Vladimir Sidoruk loved to draw from life. During his creative trips to the Hutsul region, he is fond of the local flavor. These creative trips resulted in the portraits of "Gutsulka Ksenya", "Dovbush", "Portrait of Fedkovich", "Vertayut z Polonini".
In the same period, the artist completed three paintings "Marko Cheremshina in the middle of students of the day", "Panorama of the village of Kobaki" and "Sadiba Mark Cheremshini" for the literary-memorial museum of the writer. Sidoruk also made twenty-five watercolor illustrations for the works of Cheremshina, which were exhibited in 1949 at an exhibition in Stanislav.
In 1950, the painter was offered to join the Kiev Cooperative Association of Artists, and together with his family he returned to his native Kiev region and settled in Irpin.
In 1951-1953 V. Sidoruk continues to work on creating the image of M. Cheremshina, writes the painting "The Funeral of Mark Cheremshina" for the Stanislavsky Art Museum. In 1954, by order of the Literary Memorial Museum of Yury Fedkovich in Chernivtsi, he painted the painting "Meeting at the grave of Yuriy Fedkovich in the days of the day."
During 1955-1960. the artist created six canvases for the museum-estate of the surgeon Nikolai Pirogov.
A characteristic feature of the master's creative method was the writing of landscape compositions from nature, without stopping. He wrote with inspiration and quickly, wishing to preserve the first feelings and emotions from what he saw. He expressed his vision of nature with the help of decorative, rich and at the same time refined painting.
Themed works occupy a special place in the artist's creative heritage. The painter is attracted by the legendary events of the period of Kievan Rus, the victorious struggle of the Ukrainian people led by B. Khmelnitsky. V.F.Sidoruk writes canvases dedicated to the life of Taras Shevchenko.
With great enthusiasm and love, the artist creates paintings on the Cossack theme: "Remaining Cossacks at the Battle of Berestechkom", "Maxim Krivonis" (1992). The writing of these works was preceded by a long preparatory work. Volodymyr Fedorovich carefully studied Ukrainian history, the paintings of I. Repin, A. Murashko, N. Samokish, M. Deregus.
Art critics note another line in the work of V.F. Sidoruk. In it, the artist gives priority to purely pictorial forms, creating abstractionist canvases. These paintings are striking in their special picturesqueness, unusually beautiful and complex color and unsolved, veiled meaning. The most expressive of them: “Gorda Ra-Meneis. (3 teachers' fantasies of Lesia Ukrainka) "," Dikansky devil "," Nich before Rizdv. (Demon) "," Tsarivna in the Krishtalev Truni "," The Knight in the Tiger's Skin "," Carmen. (Evening Carnival) "," Mannequins. (For Toulouse Lautrec) "," On the theme of Mary Stuart "," Remain a victim. (Woman with a nuclear catastrophe) ".
The artist worked easily, quickly, and freely solved compositional problems. As eyewitnesses recall, he first laid the entire canvas with blue paint, placed objects, checked the relationship, and then saturated the created composition with all the richness of colors seen in nature. This method of work embodied the best features of the national academic school, of which Vladimir Fedorovich Sidoruk remained a faithful follower all his life.
Since 1954 - an active participant in republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions.
Since 1957 - a member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR.
In 1980 V.F. Sidoruk received the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
The artist died on December 16, 1997.
The works of Vladimir Fedorovich Sidoruk are presented in numerous museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
