[16], 316, [2] pp. Bound in period blind-stamped pig, with spine covered in paper at a later date; text with early ink underlining and occasional marginal notes. ************** An early and rare Frankfurt edition of this work on rhetoric and dialectics, first published in 1552. Lucas Lossius (1508-1582) was a German Lutheran theologian and educator. He studied in Wittenberg, where he became acquainted with Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon. These two would write a letter of recommendation for Lossius, and this would secure for him a job as secretary to Urbanus Rhegius in Luneburg. A year later he became a teacher, and he would continue in the role of educator until his death.

Title soiled. Occasional minor stains, the most noticeable being a brief section near the center with some shallow water-stains to the extreme upper margin (shown in photos.) Vellum toned and soiled.
