WORLD WAR I EPHEMERA. A group of military ephemera related to World War I and the inter-war period, including: 1. White House reception invitation from the Coolidge administration, addressed to Lt. Commander and Mrs. Francis A. La Roche, complete with invitation card, East gate admission card, East entrance admission card, and mailing envelope. Envelope torn and separating, soiled, cards with minimal browning. 2. Gelatin silver photograph, 3.5 x 5.5 inches, depicting a group of American Expeditionary Force soldiers in France, standing in front of a row of automobiles. Adhered to a Soldier's Pay Book of Peter U. Warren, Mechanic, Wagon Co. B, 301 Am[erican] Tn (Transport unit?), dated October 1, 1918 to November 2, 1918. Soiled and slightly faded, with a few creases, paper clip rust marks. 3. Typed memorandum, from Major H. R. Vaughan to 'D.M.T.C. [Director, Motor Transport Corps] Operations Division', France, September 29, 1919, reporting a trip from Paris to visit battlefields, through Lille and ending in Brussels, driven by Corporal Warren (see item above) in a Cadillac Touring Car. Signed in type by Vaughan, and in manuscript attesting a true copy by C.A.M. Anderson, Captain. Fold creases, browning. Lot to be sold without reserve.
