Collection of World War II aviation original artwork and related items collected/drawn by WWII United States Navy aviator Don Duckwitz (1922-2003). Duckwitz served in the Pacific theater in WWII. Collection includes; 1.) Group of 11 black & white photographs measuring 2" x 3" to 4" x 3" showing Duckwitz and other friends in the service. 2.) Group of 6 black & white photographs of aircraft. 3.) Group of 17 original pencil or pen & ink drawings (4" x 6" up to 8" x 10") of aircraft, maps, and scenes (many signed by Duckwitz). Original colored pencil sketch drawing for the squadron patch of "Headquarters Squadron 46". 4.) Original squadron patch of VMF-214 (the famous "Black Sheep" squadron). Patch does not glow under black light. 5.) Match book for the United States Naval Reserve, Aviation Base, Peru, Indiana. 6.) Corps of Engineers U.S Army compass. 7.) "Escape" compass measuring 0.5" in diameter. Glass exhibits some clouding.
