JAPANESE ANIMAL AND OTHER WOODBLOCK PRINTS, LOT OF FOUR, comprising "Aoi Plant, Cherry Blossoms, Drum and Eboshi Hat Representing the 'Aoi' Chapter of The Story of Genji" by or after Ryuryukyo Shinsai (active c. 1799-1823); a reprint of "The Chomonju: Snake and Melons" from the series "Comparison of Japanese Books (Washo Kurabe)" after Totoya Hokkei (1780-1850); "Spiny Lobster as the Treasure Ship" by or after Utagawa Toyohiro (1773-1828); and a larger print of a horse. Unframed. 19th/20th century. "Aoi Plant" 7 1/4" x 8 1/2" object, 10" x 12 3/4" OA.

Condition
Three smaller prints good to very good overall condition with edges laid on paper, light to heavy toning, some stains and spotting, "Aoi Plant" with a small loss to lower right corner; larger print in very good overall with light toning, a few light stains and minor spotting, a very short tear to edge near upper left corner, two pinholes/staple holes at lower center edge.
