Description
EUROPEAN PORCELAIN ARTICLES, LOT OF THREE, comprising an English ewer featuring a polychrome floral design to each side, impressed "DOULTONS" to underside and two continental examples including a standard stem having three polychrome hand-painted figural women depicting the Graces in classical dress, having hand-brushed light blue mark to underside and a bolted compote with raised handles and molded mask terminals, featuring a relief vine and berry decoration with gilt accents, unmarked. Second half 19th century. 16 3/8" HOA.Â

Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
Condition
Ewer undamaged; standard stem having one Grace with glued arm repair and some scattered losses including parts of applied flowers and a section of basket one Grace is holding; compote having a crack extending from rim across bowl and an area on rim with handle broken and repaired.
