David Teniers the Younger Antwerp December 15 1610 Brussels April 25 1690 . was a painter and engraver son of David Teniers the Elder or David Teniers I . and father of David Teniers III. He was a Flemish artist of great fame among his contemporaries thanks to his scenes of villagers and other common people peasants farmers smokers . which allow us to compare him with Dutch masters such as Adriaen van Ostade although he opted for a more refined costumbrismo. Another of his specialties was that of painter monkeys where he showed these animals doing human tasks; theme also known as macacadas and monerias and called in Europe with the French term singeries.
