Description: A PAIR OF MONUMENTAL EGYPTIAN BANDED ALABASTER ALABASTRON, ROMAN, BYZANTINE PERIODS OR LATERof polished translucent yellow alabaster with pale horizontal bands, the cylindrical body tapering to the piriform base, with sloping shoulders, short neck and out-turned rim, raised on purpose made metal tripod stands,72cm high x 32cm wide (2)Provenance: Acquired by the present owner from the UK art market in the 1990's.For a similar single monumental alabastron see Bonhams, 28 October 2009, lot 233.
