Description
1936 Olympic trophy, 18 in. tall, mounted to a marble base. The silver-constructed trophy features an Olympic winner standing atop the world and raising his arms upward, with a laurel wreath gripped in one hand. At the base are three eagles with their wings raised. The engraving on the front of the trophy reads: ‘Awarded to B. Sunkens Germany Winner of the Sixth Event Group I II N.C.R. Olympics 271 Percent of quota June 10 to 17, 1936’. The event mentioned was a prequalifying rowing competition. Germany would go on to win the Gold in nearly all of the rowing events in the 1936 Olympics. The trophy is a bit oxidized, most notably at the bottom. Overall, very good.
