Description
A World War II era USMC enlisted man's visor cap, constructed of green wool, a black leather visor and chin strap secured by two gilded brass U.S. Navy buttons, and the emblem of the Marine Corps affixed at the center. Fully intact and perforated brown leather sweatband and a celluloid sweat shield. In the shield is a card naming the owner, reading in full '561065 Pvt. L.W. Eisenberg Marine Barracks Naval Mine Depot Yorktown - Va.'. No maker marks. The depot was established at the end of World War I and at one time had 10,000 employees. Currently it provides ordnance logistics, technical and supply related services to Fleet Forces Command and their ships. No flaws, finely crafted and well preserved.
