Very rare early M34 overseas cap as issued and worn by an unidentified German Gauleiter. Cap is adorned with an embroidered 1931 pattern cap eagle in extraordinary quality, as well as the 1935 pattern enameled cockade which shows some damage to the red enameled outer ring and silvered metal wreath. The cap features a bright red piping indicating the rank of Gauleiter, with an interior lining in an un-faded burnt orange color, and is stamped '56' indicating the size. Although the cloth RZM tag's brown paint has faded and fallen away, the bright stamp of '156 - P.R.A.' is still visible in blue ink on the tag. The tag is sewn under the leather sweatband on the interior and is completely intact. Very rare cap in a seldomly encountered rank. Excellent condition overall.
