Description
An impressive knife, a bowie-style fighting knife with brass knuckle guard, 9.25 in. blade, 13.5 in. overall, with 1.75 in. wide blade. Grip is stamped ‘R & V Co.’ with a hallmark and ‘U.S.’ on the other side with the number ‘31’. These knives were produced in both ‘small’ and ‘large’ sizes, with this example being the latter. Housed in the original copper-riveted leather scabbard with remnants of olive drab camouflage paint, marked ‘A co 4’, and stamped ‘1945’ on the interior over the ‘R & A’ mark. Blade bears some chipping and oxidation but overall very good.
