A group of documents related to the career and death of Corporal Friedrich Fresse, killed in action on July 29, 1944 in Dunaberg. Includes: an award document, 1p. folio, Nov. 30, 1939, honoring Fresse with the 1 October 1938 Commemorative Medal; five World War II-date award documents issuing to Fresse the Wound Badge, Nov. 6, 1941; the Iron Cross, Second Class, Dec. 13, 1941; the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, July 28, 1942; the Eastern Medal, July 29, 1942; Iron Cross, First Class, Sept. 12, 1943, and finally the Close Combat Badge, Oct. 11, 1943. WITH: a ‘Special Recognition’ document, 1p. 8vo., Uritzk, Oct. 8, 1941, with a facsimile signature of Walter von Brauchitsch; a T.L.S. 1p. legal folio, Aug. 6, 1944, to Fresse’s widow reporting his death; a second T.L.S. 1p. legal folio, Aug. 20, 1944, a posthumous promotion of Fresse to Sergeant, and more. Overall very good condition.
