German Freedom Party was an opposition party founded in exile in Paris in early 1937 against the rule of Hitler and the NSDAP.Although founded in exile, the group saw itself as an internal German resistance. The group attempted to maintain strict secrecy and anonymity to create the appearance of a much larger opposition and for this purpose published the German Freedom Letters in order to strengthen resistance against National Socialism. The declared goal was to end the rule of the NSDAP and prevent a European war. After the start of the war, this purpose became obsolete and the production of freedom letters stopped.
