(1886 - 1950) American general, commander of the Army Air Force through most of World War II, responsible for instituting the daylight bombing raids on Germany. Signed and inscribed book, Arnold's 'Global Mission' (New York: Harper & Brothers), 1949. First edition, 626pp. 8vo., his history of the development of U.S. military air power. He signs: 'H H Arnold' in blue ink on the front flyleaf, following his inscription: 'With best wishes for some interesting reading about the build up of our Air Force'. Very good to fine condition, lacking d/j.
