Description
(1891 – 1977) British chairman of the XX Committee, which during the Second World War ran the Double-Cross System controlling double agents in Britain. These 'turned' German agents proved invaluable in supplying disinformation concerning the locations of the Sicily and Normandy (D-Day) landings, and the accuracy of the V-1 and V-2 rocket attacks. Fine and rare S.P., 8.25 x 10.25 in. b/w, a distinguished half-length portrait signed and dated 1975. Contrast fair at best, else fine.
