Ball Watch Co., Cleveland, Ohio, a grade 998E pocket watch, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted to 5 positions and temperature damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, uncut monometallic balance with gold screws, gold jewel settings, pallet bridge marked "Elinvar", and whiplash micrometric regulator in a screw back and bezel, engraved open face case with stirrup bow, Montgomery arabic numeral single sunk white enamel dial with blued steel spade and poker hands,serial #B648356
Condition
CASE: Tiny dings; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Cluster of scratches on inside of back cover; Gold filled with minor brassing. DIAL: Minor scratches, otherwise very good. HANDS: Minor oxide. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; pin pricks; Balance cock with scratches and dings; Minor gouging at case screw; Cluster of scratches at one barrel bridge screw; Ratchet wheel with fine scratches and shallow pitting; Regulator assembly with oxide; Balance endstone setting marred. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Low amplitude, needs service, circa 1940
