Illinois Watch Co., Springfield, Illinois, a late 19th century grade 103 pocket watch, 18 size, 15 jewel, stem wind and lever set, damascened nickel plate movement marked "Sunny South", with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance in a 14 karat, yellow gold, engraved, faux box hinge hunting case with scalloped band and applied four color gold ornament, the front with floral wreath and shield with engraved monogram, the back with foliate ornament surrounding an eight point star, roman numeral, double sunk white enamel dial with blued steel spade hands, serial #211851, 134.5g TW
Condition
CASE: Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Small dent removal mark on inside of front cover; Front cover with gap at band when closed, crystal too high; Bow replaced; Crown lacking shell; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Faint hairlines; Center with circular crack; Center with filled losses; Minor edge loss, 9:00. HANDS: Minor oxide. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine and very fine scratches on plate; Scratches and pin pricks on balance cock and barrel bridge; A few spots of corrosion; Bright work with specks of oxide; One case screw replaced. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Not running, good staff, fully wound, needs service, circa 1880
