Unlike the earlier chronograph models that Rolex had been developing since 1930s, this Reference 6239 was designed with a focus on modernity and automobile racing. It was also the first chronograph with the tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel and the sub dials printed in different color to make it less cluttered and easier to read.
