The faceted ormolu case centered by circular enamel dial with radial Roman chapters, signed 'Chopin a Paris', surmounted by a Classical female figure seated in a winged chair, a dog and a cat by her feet and a young boy standing on a stool, possibly a figure of Charity
14 in. (35.5 cm.) high, 12 3/4 in. (32.5 cm.) wide, 5 1/2 in. (14 cm.) deep

A clock of this model is illustrated E. Niehüser, French Bronze Clocks 1700-1830, Atglen, 1999, p. 180, fig. 293. The clockmaker Chopin is recorded at rue aux Ours (1806) and rue Beaubourg (1820); the name is also recorded at Palais Royal (1812) and rue St-Martin (1810).
