Description
A framed and matted original advertising lithograph of the William Mason Highland Light, a 4-4-0 American type iron horse built in Taunton, Massachusetts in 1867 for the Cape Cod Central Railroad, which eventually became part of the New Haven system. The lithograph was by Crosby Lithograph of Boston. The frame measures 32 1/2" x 26 1/2" and the visible artwork measures 26" x 20 3/8". The glass has a label at the bottom 1867 when the locomotive was built. C.C.C.R.R. and Highland Light appear on the tender, with Mason's ornamental monogram placed proudly between her driving wheels. The lithograph shows some very very light discoloration or toning across the top. Also two light imprints on the left side in the sky that are barely noticeable and only visible when viewed at an angle to the light. The wooden frame shows general signs of use and tape on the back.
