Description: Painted by Cyril Jordan in hand-mixed fluorescent paints, image area 11.5" x 16" on 16" x 20" stretched canvas, signed "Cyril Jordan" in the bottom right margin. Excellent condition.This piece must be seen up close and personal, in all of its fluorescent glory, to be believed. Cyril Jordan has created a picture-perfect recreation of the splash page to one of MAD's greatest moments, Will Elder's Inner Sanctum parody "Outer Sanctum!," and he has perfectly replicated the look of ink and pigments printed by high-speed presses onto porous newsprint, outdoing the likes of Lichtenstein by a country mile.

Cyril has captured all of Will Elder's rich "chicken fat" of gags and subgags, and sharp-eyed Fan-Addicts will spy one particularly significant gag – one that nearly put EC out of business! Bill Gaines explains: "The second problem... was the first page of 'Outer Sanctum,' and you know crazy Bill Elder who put all this junk in his stuff back in those days, and he had something like 'Fat Errand Boy Wanted.' Of course as any horror person would know, what would a ghoul want a fat errand boy for? It would be to eat him! But not these wholesalers, they had something much worse in mind. They had sexual perversion in mind, and they accused us of putting this thing in there, meaning that they wanted a fat errand boy to screw or whatever you do with fat errand boys.
