Description
From a Chicago estate, a cased waterline model of the United Fruit Company refrigerated transport "T.E.S. Chiriqui". The Chiriqui was launched in 1932 and served in WW2 before being scrapped in 1971. Typical of UFC's Great White Fleet, often referred to as the Banana Navy, their fleet plied the South American fruit trade for almost 50 years. This is a handbuilt model by a gifted amateur and measures 24" long inside a case 30"long x 9" wide x 11" high.
