Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Colombia, Tairona culture, ca. 800 to 1500 CE. A gathering of hand-carved carnelian beads with a charming frog pendant in the center. Dark green stone beads are interspersed amongst the carnelian beads towards the center of the composition to create a pleasant bichrome presentation. Size (necklace): 22.5" L (57.2 cm); (frog pendant): 0.9" L x 0.82" W x 0.44" H (2.3 cm x 2.1 cm x 1.1 cm)
Provenance: private Bergenfield, New Jersey, USA collection, acquired via descent, originally imported into the US from Colombia in 1977
