Pauthier, first Portuguese edition, light browning, a few ff. corners restored, new endpapers, later morocco-backed boards, spine lettered in gilt, Nova-Goa, Imprensa Nacional, 1859, 8vo (2)*** The first an exceptionally rare type sample book from the Reale Accademia dei Lincei, with only one copy recorded on Worldcat. The Reale Accademia was first founded in 1603 with Galileo as its intellectual centre and, after a revival in the late 19th century, printing became a course of study with Tipografia Salviucci directing publications from 1881 and introducing Oriental type fonts into its works. This book includes Sanskrit, Armenian, Syriac, Samaritan, Arabic, Persian, Aramaic, Hieroglyphic, Coptic, Chinese, Greek and Russian fonts.
