About the artist: Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Born on December 19, 1901 in the city of Gaysin, now Vinnitsa region. In 1930 he graduated from OKHI (teachers specializing in D. Krainev, G. Komar, P. Volokidin). He was a member of the Association of Revolutionary Art of the Ukrainian SSR (ARIU). In 1930 - 1980 he taught at art schools in Kiev and Odessa. After graduating from the institute in 1930, he worked in Makeyevka, then taught at the Kiev and Odessa art institutes. During the Great Patriotic War, he took part in hostilities, in the defense of the city of Odessa. After the war, he participated in the restoration and headed the Odessa Art School, read at the Ushinsky Pedagogical Institute and the Art School a course in the history of art, composition, graphics. Among his students - K. Lomykin, Litvinenko, E. Neiman, V. Filipenko, L. Yavorsky, G. Pavlyuk, V. Vlasov, A. Gavdzinsky. For a long time he was the executive secretary of the Odessa Regional Union of Artists. He wrote genre compositions, landscapes and still lifes. Nikolai Artemovich was a talented painter and an outstanding teacher. He put forty years of his life on the altar of educating the young generation within the walls of the Odessa Art School. Among his students are K. Lomykin, V. Litvinenko, V. Filippenko, L. Yavorsky, A. Ermolenko. He painted genre compositions, landscapes and still lifes. Taught: at preparatory courses in Kiev and Odessa 1930-1970. Awarded with the Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR. Participated in exhibitions: republican since 1927, all-Union since 1939. Major works: "Chefs" (1927); Tsar's Will (1929); "G. I. Kotovsky at the head of a partisan detachment "(1937); "The sun was rising over Odessa" (1948); "Kolkhoz Agronomist" (1957) and others. Lived and worked in Odessa. He died in 1980. The artist's works are kept in many museum and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
