.30-06. 22" barrel length. SN: B4367. Parkerized metal refinish with polished bolt and mounting walnut semi-pistol grip stock with perforated heat shield. Short-recoil operated rotating bolt semi-automatic rifle fed by an internal ten shot rotary magazine charged with M1903 pattern stripper clips. Sights consist of an adjustable tangent rear aperture and front blade with protectors. Rear sight is graduated in METERS and not yards, as is correct for rifles of this type. The top of the receiver shows patent and model markings with the patent mark reading in five lines U.S. PATENT NOS./2,094,156-2,146,749/2,181,131-2,215,470/AND OTHER U.S. AND FOREIGN/PATS. AND PATS. PENDING. Model marking reads CAL. 30-'06 SEMI-AUTO/"JOHNSON AUTOMATICS"/MODEL OF 1941/MADE IN PROVIDENCE, R.I., U.S.A. followed by the serial number. Right receiver shows manufacturer marking CRANSTON/ARMS/CO. within a triangle. A small Dutch Acceptance {Star} marking has been struck above the Cranston marking. Barrel bushing shows the caliber marking .30-'06 and a date mark of 41. Bolt, barrel, and receiver show matching serial number markings, though the factory made no attempt to ensure all items matched during the manufacture process. The stock shows a varnished finish indicating it has been refinished, as the Johnson rifles left the factory with an oil finish. Condition
Fine. Bore Very bright with sharp rifling throughout. Parkerized finish has taken on the green tint typical of Cosmoline preserved rifles. Item shows some rough forge and manufacture marks with crisp production stamps. Shallow markings to top of receiver typical of rifles of this type. Some light pitting to the top of the charging handle. Some scattered light scratches and wear to the metal work. The stock shows a varnished finish indicating it has been refinished, as the Johnson rifles left the factory with an oil finish. Stock additionally shows a splice to the right side behind the magazine with few light scratches and mars.
