**U.S. Springfield M1 Garand Rifle Manufactured in 1941
World War II
.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 333829. Parkerized metal finish overall mounting walnut semi-pistol grip stocks and locking bar sights. Long stroke piston driven gas operated rifle fed by an internal box magazine utilizing en-bloc clips. Receiver is marked U.S. RIFLE/CAL. .30 M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY with the serial number indicating a production date of September, 1941, while the barrel is marked S-A 12-41, indicating manufacture during December, 1941. Drawing numbers to assorted parts all correspond to production during Autumn of 1941, and include D 28291-13 S A on the receiver, with the operating rod showing the post-war cut, and number D35382 3 S A, which corresponds to production between April of 1941 and October, 1942. Bolt marking reads D28287-2SA/C13, again, correct for autumn 1941. Trigger housing is struck D28290-5-SA and the triggerguard C-46025-1-SA, both correct for 1941 production. The left stock is struck with the Ordnance {Crossed Cannons} logo beside the boxed cartouche S.A./GHS of inspector Gilbert H. Stewart with the "Large Wheel" ordnance marking correct for M1 Garands inspected during 1941. The wrist has been struck with the Circle P proof marking. Rifle mounts a pattern 1905 leather sling while stock is void of tools. Locking bar pattern rear sight was installed at some point during repair, as this pattern of rear sight entered production after this rifle was manufactured. Rifle shows a muzzle erosion reading of over 7, and throat of 3.

Condition
Good. Bore is Frosty with some light pitting throughout. Metal finish is thinning on the gas cylinder and shows some light edgewear overall and some light scuffs to the Parkerizing on the barrel and receiver. The wood stock shows handling wear and light mars overall, with the inspection marks showing some weakness indicative of sanding. The operating rod is bent, and fails the "tilt test". Sling shows some cracking at all corners with some scuffs, abrasions, and mold discolorations on the interior surfaces. Rifle shows a muzzle erosion reading of over 7, and throat of 3.
