Larger than the standard introductory box, this very early example measures just over 5 7/8" in length x 2 3/16" wide, with printed end label "Creek Chub Wiggler" Natural No. C. C. Price 85 Cents", this vivid yellow box grades about Ex- with wear, light soiling and a thin section of paper loss on the top edge. The 100 Wiggler is finished in early chub scale with red hand painted gill marks, unmarked lip, belly washer, simple screw eye tail hook hanger and good glass eyes, shiny VG+/Ex- due to light wear, a small side chip, pointers, touchup inside the line tie hole and age lines. The box includes the Sheridan R. Jones collection stamp on the interior of the lid, with this exact package pictured on page 54 of "The Life and Legend of Sheridan R. Jones". An important larger intro box, the only in this rare size to be offered at Lang's.

Referred to as "America's pioneering outdoor writer", Sheridan Jones (1881-1958) was certainly one of the most respected and prolific angling writers of his era. Many of the lures offered in this auction, where noted, were personally owned by Jones. Several were given to the esteemed author and outdoor writer for his professional opinion, others as gifts by lure makers vying for his favor. Stated best by author Joseph Hilko in his 2010 book The Life and Legend of Sheridan R. Jones: "Jones' legacy as an educator, naturalist, professional writer and world-class angler is worthy of remembrance today".
