Description
China Trade Gilt-Decorated Black Lacquer Tea Caddy, Circa 1850-70. Of rectangular form, decorated on the cover with a pair of court figures seated at a table, and on the front, sides and back with figures engaged in various activities, the cover opening to reveal two pewter tea containers with etched covers and tops. Together with a red lacquered and japanned document box, nineteenth century. (2) Tea Caddy: H: 4.25 in., W: 8.75 in., D: 6 in. Document box: H: 4.625 in., W: 10.5 in., D: 6 in. Provenance: Property from the Collection of Cortlandt and Nancy Knowles Parker, Greenvale Farm Estate and Vineyard, Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
