American School. Chateau de la Grange, Home of Marquis de La Fayette, After 1824. Watercolor on paper, depicting a couple boating in front of the Chateau, inscribed on the reverse "LaGrange, The home of the Marquis de La Fayette in Southwest France/ Painted in honor of his visit to America in 1824," (16 x 20.25 inches, sight); housed in a ripple-carved giltwood frame. Frame: H: 19.25 in., W: 23.5 in., D: 1.125 in.
