Inlaid and gilt on the cover with a be-ribboned foliate roundel, and overlapping ebonized-wood and brass-inset rectangles, each edged with inlaid mother-of-pearl, various woods and brass geometric borders, opening to a baize-lined writing surface over a compartment, and pair of ink bottles centering a writing utensil well.
