A pretty painting by Lockwood Dennis featuring a perfectly symmetric white house with a white picket fence flanked by a pair of trees. The charming suburban scene is set against gorgeous hues of violet and periwinkle that fill the sky, indicating that it is twilight. The meandering branches of the trees and wispy strokes of bright green grass contrast the otherwise geometric composition, while the dark shadow of a neighboring house inhabits the left periphery of the piece. Lockwood seemed to enjoy capturing views where the natural and the built environments met.
