Description
Roman Era, Holy Land, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A hand-built redware pottery jar of rare form with a constricted rim that forms a spout on each end. The circular body is covered in burnishing marks that create a pleasing surface smoothness. Most vessels from this region have circular rims, so this one is rather unusual! Provenance: private Annadale, Virginia, USA collection, acquired in Israel
