Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A collection of 3 ancient glass jars, each free blown into petite forms, perfect for storing perfumes or cosmetics. A pale green-blue beaker, a slender unguentarium with an elongated neck and pearlescent hue, and a bulbous jar with handles on a discoidal foot. Glassmaking was widespread throughout the Roman Empire, and glassware was accessible and affordable to nearly all Romans, and jars like these were used for storing powders, herbs, and oils - the ingredients used for cosmetics and medicines. Size of handle jar: 2.5" Diameter x 2.75" H (6.4 cm x 7 cm)

Condition
Active flaking of surface patina to slender vial. Surface chips and nicks, but otherwise intact without repairs. Heavy mineral and earthen deposits and nice areas of iridescence.
