Description
Native American, southwestern United States, Four Corners region, Southern Colorado Plateau, Pueblo I / Pueblo II (Anasazi) period, ca. 875 to 1050 CE. An adorable pottery vessel in the form of a bird of duck with spread wings and a flared tail. Adorned in black-on-white decoration, the jar presents an ovoid body with 3 prominent knobs protruding from its chest, and another at the top of its long neck, which opens to form the spout. A slender handle curves over the back, while all is supported by a slightly rounded yet stable base. The exterior is finely painted with a series of dotted, striped, and zigzag motifs. Size: 5.2" L x 3.6" W x 3.7" H (13.2 cm x 9.1 cm x 9.4 cm)
