Description
14K Gold Mourning Brooch and 18K Gold and Micromosaic Brooch; and a Bracelet and Locket, Nineteenth Century. The mourning jewelry comprising a black jet brooch affixed with the gold initials "EG" in foliate script, and enclosing a lock of hair; and a woven hair bracelet; the locket mounted on the front with a yellow and rose gold botanical spray, inscribed on the inside of the cover "J.P./ Feb. 22d./ 1879" and opposite the photograph of a soldier, and on the exterior engraved with the initials "JC" (?).; the micromosaic brooch with bevelled edge and depicting a spray of summer flowers. Mourning brooch: Diam: 1.25 in. Micromosaic brooch: H: 1.75 in., W: 2.375 in. Provenance: Property from the Collection of Cortlandt and Nancy Knowles Parker, Greenvale Farm Estate and Vineyard, Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
