A traditional Acoma Pueblo pottery bear sculpture from New Mexico by "Dalawepi" Ergil Vallo. Signed on bottom and annotated "Acoma, N.M." The vessel is fired earthenware with carved stylized geometric designs as well as native and animal figures. Acoma pottery has been sought after for decades for the Native American people of this region are known for a wealth of culture and art. Recognized for the intricate line designs which the artists completed freehand. Although decorative, the objects were made with functionality in mind and could also be used for drinking, storage, or ceremonial purposes. From a private collection. Dimensions: 6.75"h x 7"w x 2"d.
