A traditional Jemez Pueblo "Wedding Vase" pottery vessel from New Mexico signed A Loretto, Jemez (Angie Loretto). The vessel is fired earthenware with highly stylized geometric designs in stark black and white. The Native American people of this region are known for a wealth of culture and art. Recognized for the intricate line designs which the artists completed freehand. Although decorative, the objects were made with functionality in mind. The two spouts symbolize the two individual lives, and the handle symbolizes the union of two lives in marriage. Dimensions: 8"h x 5"dia. In very good vintage condition consistent with age.
