Mossi Fertility Doll - 19th Century Aboriginal Indigenous Art- 19th Century Aboriginal Indigenous Art - Once ritualware for the Mossi people of Burkina Faso, Africa. Made of wood and leather. A carved wooden doll known as a biiga (literally "child") covered in tanned antelope hide and used for play by Mossi girls. It's phallic shape indicates it's use for fertility. The tubular body features a leather bound mid-section and breasts. Eyes and hair can be seen in carving. Measures 7.75" x 1". Item comes from the collection of Timothy Koock. Ships from Austin, Tx.
