Mossi Fertility Doll - Aboriginal Indigenous Art- 19th Century Aboriginal Indigenous Art - Once ritualware for the Mossi people of Burkina Faso, Africa. Made of wood and leather. A carved wooden doll known as a biiga (literally "child") covered in tanned antelope hide and used for play by Mossi girls. It's phallic shape indicates it's use for fertility. The tubular body is leatherbound, and features breast and a tasel around the neck. Measures 9" x 2". Item comes from the collection of Timothy Koock. Ships from Austin, Tx.
