Description

A Monocular Drum Microscope by Chevalier, Paris, circa 1835,
Lacquered brass. Signed Charles Chevalier, Ing. Opt. Brevele Palais Royal 163 Paris, on the front of the telescopic main tube. Rack-and-pinion focusing, hinged magnifier oxidized platform, concave mirror.
Contained within a mahogany fitted box with threaded brass mounting to top, with nine glass slides.

Box dimensions: H: 2 3/4 x W: 10 x D: 4 1/8 in.

From the Estate of John A. Davidson, Jr. Proceeds to benefit the APL of Lorain County and the Dittrick Museum.

Condition

Horizontal crack to top of box, travels from front to back. Areas of oxidation to brass.
