Here is a collection of over 40 sketches by a young Jack Sweetman. There are some that are pencil, pen, and even a watercolor sketch. These were done in the 1950s. Jack would later become an author, coauthor, translator, editor, or coeditor of ten books and many shorter pieces in the field of naval and military history. He served as a company commander in the U.S. Army and was a Ford Fellow at Emory University, where he earned his Ph.D. For many years contributing editor of Naval History magazine, he is a recipient of the Alfred Thayer Mahan Award for Literary Achievement and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Many of the sketches are attached to this scrapbook and some are loose from the book. The sketchbook is approx 9" x 1 1/4" x 11 3/4" and it weighs 0.93lb. The book is missing its spine cover.
